Designing Life's Backdrop

In watching my children explore our latest project, I'm reminded why creating spaces for life's precious moments fuels my passion.

There's something magical about watching my daughter play by the window of this newly completed lakeside home, her tiny silhouette framed by the afternoon light.

Our gracious clients not only trusted us with designing their lake residence but opened their doors to us weeks after completion, inviting us to stay and truly experience the home we crafted together.

As I captured this moment, my heart swelled with memories of my own childhood – trailing behind my mother through construction sites and model homes she had lovingly designed. I remember being in awe of her work, thinking how incredible it was that she could transform empty spaces into homes where life would unfold.

Now, following in her footsteps, I see dwelling structures through both a designer's and a mother's eyes. Every corner we craft will host first steps, family gatherings, quiet reflections, celebrations, and countless stories not yet told. Though my mom has passed, she lives on in my work and passion for design. She taught me that creating a home is about more than selecting finishes and furniture – it's about shaping the backdrop for life's most precious moments.

As I watched my children explore each room and outdoor living area of this newly completed project, I feel not only my mom's presence and pride, but excitement and love for the wonderful family for which this home was designed. This legacy of designing homes where families will grow, laugh, and love – it's perhaps the most beautiful gift my mom could have given me. Her influence continues to shape not just the mother I have become, but the homes I design for others.
